    Q:
How to Service and Repair an Alternator on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin generator replacement by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by removing the accessory Drive Belt. The generator electrical connector becomes disconnected first before proceeding to take off the positive cable by advancing the boot down the wire followed by removal of the positive cable nut located on the generator and final cable stud removal. Start by removing the canister purge solenoid followed by the generator bolts (2, 3, 6) and then extract the generator. Place the generator in position first then secure it with generator bolts (2, 3, 6) tightening the bolts (2, 6) to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) and the bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Reposition the positive cable onto the generator stud then tighten it to a torque of 22 n.m (16 lb ft) before sliding the boot across the generator stud. The process ends with attaching the electrical connector to the generator followed by reinstallation of the accessory Drive Belt and lastly connecting the negative Battery Cable.

    Q:
How to replace the alternator on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the generator, disconnect the negative Battery Cable and accessory Drive Belt, remove it. Unplug the generator electrical connector and lift the boot on the positive cable to expose the positive terminal stud and remove the cable nut from the generator output stud and the cable off the generator. In the next step, extract the canister purge solenoid, the generator rear brace bolt, and the generator bolts (2, 3) before you get the generator off the Drive Belt tensioner. For installation, position the generator back on to the Drive Belt tensioner install the generator bolts (2, 3), tighten bolt to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) and bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) to relieve stress from tensioner, more especially springs, when reassembling the front cover (1). Replace the generator brace bolt and tighten it to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) and reinstall the canister purge solenoid. Connect the positive cable to generator output stud and tighten it with the positive cable nut and tighten it to 22 n.m (16 lb ft) then wipe the boot over the generator output stud. Attach the electric connector to the generator, reattach the accessory Drive Belt, and finally, tie up the negative Battery Cable.
