2002 Chevrolet Camaro Alternator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the alternator on 2002 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: The generator replacement process begins with battery wire negation followed by accessory belt removal. Start by disconnecting the electrical generator connector then you can proceed with positive cable removal by moving the boot down cable length and removing the positive cable nut (at generator) before pulling the cable off the stud. Begin generator replacement by removing the bolts that secure the generator (2, 3, 6) followed by unattachment of the canister purge solenoid. A technician should start installation by placing the generator in position before using generator bolts (2, 3, 6) to secure it firmly. Then tighten generator bolts (2, 6) to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) while tightening generator bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). First put the canister purge solenoid back into place then use a pair of pliers to put the positive cable on the generator stud and secure it with the positive cable nut (generator), tightening it to 22 n.m (16 lb ft) before dropping the boot over the generator stud. Plug the generator electrical connection into place before replacing the accessory Drive Belt and securing the negative Battery Cable.
