Seat Heater

A front seat back heater replacement requires complete front bucket seat removal then detachment of back seating along with subsequent removal of both the headrest and armrest. You must detach the j-hook retainer which exists at the bottom end of the seat back cover before properly adjusting its end flaps. Detach the front seat side air bag before unhooking the seat back cover from front and rear retainers at the side impact air bag. You should first detach the seat back cover's hook and loop retainers from both their pad attachments before you can remove the cover by pulling it upward. It is important to swap the cushion first in case of damage because further work requires removal of the seat back heater element. Place the new seat back heater element first followed by the front seat back cover installation while keeping the cover and pad marks properly aligned. To secure the pad you should attach the cover using hog rings and ensure proper alignment of hook and loop retainers. Fasten the cover onto both front and rear retainers which serve the side impact air bag before putting back the side air bag. After pressing the cover toward the side air bag retainer you should pull it down and reposition the end flap while attaching the j-hook retainer on the seat back cover bottom. The restoration process ends with installation of the back onto the front position then addition of the headrest and armrest and bucket seat.

Begin the replacement process of front seat cushion heater elements by removing the front bucket seat furniture and its accompanying seat back and adjuster. The electrical connector for the heated seat requires disconnecting when present before removing j-hook retainers from the seat cushion front edges and sides and back. The same procedure applies to the hook and loop retainers that join the cushion cover. The hog rings on the cover must be unscrewed before undoing the cover from its position on the front seat cushion. A required replacement of the cushion takes place when damage occurs. Install the new heater element by placing it directly over the existing element unless this represents your second installation then remove the old replacement heater element first before setup. Apply hog rings to secure the front seat cushion cover while also using j-hook retainers on front, sides and rear sections and hook and loop retainers which need to be compressed until fully inserted. Reinstall the seat adjuster before connecting the electrical connector for heated seats if present and then install the seat back along with bucket seat. The avoidance of personal injuries requires that technicians zero out the passenger presence system before and after removing or changing either the seat cushion or trim due to it resulting in system failures. Passenger presence system re-zeroing needs to be performed as the last step.
