Heater Element, Driver Side

The first step for installing the passenger presence system instead of the driver or passenger seat cushion heater involves removing the front seat and setting it on a clean workbench. Start by pulling off the seat cushion cover and pad without harming the primary heater element in the seat foam which might injure the inflatable restraint passenger presence system (PPS) or foam pad. A second repair requires separating and removing the service heater element from its original state with a restriction of two heater elements stacked above the pps at one time. Trim the wiring harness from the old heater element directly at the element point. Place the heater element over the seat foam pad by removing its self-stick tape from behind while aligning the holes and tabs before pressing it firmly to activate attachment. Pass the heating element wiring harness beneath the seat pad then link it to the heater module by using tight straps to stabilize the wire. You should put back the seat cushion covering and pad afterward the front seat assembly should be installed in its proper position. Sniffing and clearing the inflatable restraint for the front passenger seat must be performed after repairing the passenger seat and testing the inflatable restraint passenger presence system.

Install the front seat back into the vehicle.
