    Q:
How to replace the liftgate hinge on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
You must first uninstall the liftgate and then remove the headliner to switch out the liftgate hinge. Use a grease pencil to draw the hinge position on the vehicle body and disconnect the hinge retaining nuts from the roof to take out the hinge. Position the hinge on the body marks and place its retaining nuts before you tighten the liftgate studs to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Reattach the headliner before you put the liftgate back in place.

    Q:
How to Properly Align and Install a Liftgate Hinge on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should first take off the liftgate and the headliner before replacing the liftgate hinge. Before you take off the hinge, use a grease pencil to mark its location on the body, then unscrew the retaining nuts from the roof and take it out. Position the hinge where your marks are on the body and be sure to follow the Fastener Notice found in service precautions. Put in the hinge retaining nuts and use a torque wrench to tighten the liftgate hinge stud nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). At the end, put the headliner and the liftgate back in their places.
