To install the new rear compartment lid hinge you need support from another person to remove the complete lid assembly. Remove the rear compartment trim pieces before dealing with the shelf trim. After removing the parts take out the extension pin and the hinge strap retaining pin then discard the pin. Unbolt and take off the hinge strap from its position. Your first step should be to put on both the hinge strap and a new hinge strap retaining pin. Reposition the rear shelf trim parts before putting the extension spring back in place. Two people need to help to put back the lid assembly after you put the rear compartment trim back into place. After that examine the rear compartment lid alignment then adjust it if needed.

Have someone help you as you first take off the lid assembly to replace the rear compartment lid hinge. After that, take apart the rear compartment trim and the rear shelf trim from the vehicle. At this point, take out the extension pin as well as the hinge strap retaining pin and get rid of the pins. At this step, you should remove the hinge strap. First, when installing, put the new hinge strap in place and attach a new hinge strap retaining pin to it. Start by putting back the rear shelf trim, then fit the extension spring, and then put the rear compartment trim in place. To finish, work with a partner to install the lid assembly, and then check the rear compartment lid's alignment, making changes if it is needed.

First, with an assistant, remove the lid assembly.
