    Q:
How to replace the Power Steering Hose on Chevrolet Venture? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement of p/s cooler pipe/hose begins by suspending and raising the vehicle. You must place a drain pan under both the Power Steering Pump and gear before you detach the return hose from the cooler pipe. Steering gear damage and loss of control will occur if you do not disconnect the intermediate shaft from the Rack And Pinion stub shaft. Set the Steering Shaft to position its upper block tooth at 12 o'clock while steering wheels remain straight ahead and the ignition switch should be set to lock for coil safety. First disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear before you secure the frame rear on a utility stand to remove the frame rear bolts. Access the frame rear by lowering it and then remove the Power Steering Hose clip and steering cooler pipe from the steering gear and its retainer bolt/screw and frame retainer. The cooler pipe requires removal from its retainers on the frame before extracting it. Start by installing the cooler pipe to the frame retainers before installing the cooler pipe retainer along with its bolt/screw which should be tightened up to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Fasten the steering gear fitting on the cooler pipe then install the power steering gear hose clip and return hose onto the cooler pipe. Rear up the frame using a utility stand while adding the new frame rear bolts. Check that the Steering Shaft lies in the correct spot as you set the ignition switch to lock before you install the intermediate shaft to the steering gear. After lowering the vehicle finish the process by filling the power steering fluid reservoir and performing a power steering system bleed.
