    Q:
How to replace the surge tank outlet coolant pipe on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the surge tank outlet hose assembly drain the cooling system and loosen the radiator support. Disengage tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the surge tank with the hose clamp pliers (J38185) and remove the surge tank outlet hose from the surge tank. As such, there will be the disconnection of the surge tank outlet hose assembly from the support tabs at the cooling Fan Shroud and again using the hose clamp pliers(J38185) to relieve tension at the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the Water Pump by disconnecting the hose from the Water Pump. Repeat this using the heater pipe assembly using the hose clamp pliers (J38185) to free the clamp and pull the hose. Take the vehicle's surge tank outlet hose assembly off. For installation, lubricate the inside diameter of the hoses with clean coolant and then reinstall the surge tank outlet hose assembly back to the vehicle. Attach the surge tank output hose to the heater pipe assembly and tighten the tension of the hose clamp pliers (J38185). Connect the hose to the Water Pump and tighten that clamp as well. Reconnect the surge tank outlet hose assembly to the tabs of the cooling Fan Shroud and fasten it to the surge tank and apply tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the surge tank with the hose clamp pliers (J38185). Lastly, reinstall the radiator support and add the liquid to the cooling system.
