    Q:
How to replace the oil pan on Chevrolet Prizm? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the Oil Pan, lift the car, hold it up. Install a drain pan on the floor underneath the engine Oil Pan collector and drain the oil before removing the engine oil Drain Plug and gasket. Then, take off the right side lower engine splash shield and the flywheel inspection cover, if the car has a manual transaxle. Take out fourteen bolts (numbers 1, 2, 4-13, 15, 16) and two nuts (3, 14) from the lower cylinder block, without harm to the Oil Pan contact surface. Be cautious as you take off the engine Oil Pan, clean the inside of the Oil Pan, and the mating surface of the Oil Pan and lower cylinder block. Sounds the engine Oil Pan mating surface with a continuous bead of silicon sealant, gm, p. N. 12346240, and install the Oil Pan. Secure it with the fourteen bolts (1, 2, 4-13, 15, 16) and two nuts (3, 14), torqued to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). Mount the flywheel cover and mount the right side lower engine splash shield followed by installing the engine oil Drain Plug and gasket and tightening the plug using 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). Lowering the vehicle, pouring oil into the engine, as well as checking the oil pressure.
