    Q:
How to replace the Fuel Filler Hose on a 35 Reg/Ext/Crew Cab with a 34 Gal Tank on GMC Sierra 3500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step in fuel tank filler pipe replacement for a 35 reg/ext/crew cab with 34-gallon tank requires removal of torx(R) screws from the fuel tank filler housing together with its retainer then unbolting the filler housing from the fuel tank fill pipe. Begin by taking off the fuel tank filler housing followed by lifting the vehicle partially while providing support. Remove the ground wire bolt from the fuel tank fill pipe as well as the tab securing the wire to the frame hole. Before separating the fuel tank fill pipe you must move the wire for ground connectivity and wiring harness to the base. Then unfasten the fuel tank fill pipe bracket near the fuel tank and disconnect the fuel tank evaporative emission line using the quick action fitting on the fuel tank module. Seal the opening of the fuel tank to avoid any contamination happening. Install the fuel tank fill pipe after removing its cap from the tank opening and connecting the fuel tank evap line quick connect fitting to the fuel tank module. You should start by setting the fuel tank fill pipe clamp torque to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in). After that align the fuel tank fill pipe ground wire along with ground wire to the frame bracket while inserting the ground wire anti-rotation tab into the frame hole. Tighten the ground wire bolt up to 9 n.m while lowering the vehicle before placing on the fuel tank filler housing. Finish the fuel tank filler housing setup by connecting its bolts to the fuel tank fill pipe then tighten them to 2.3 n.m (20 lb in) before securing the housing to body torx(R) screws with retainer at 2.3 n.m (20 lb in).
