    Q:
How to replace the radiator on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process of a Radiator begins with recovering the refrigerant from the a/c system followed by draining the cooling system through proper methods. First disconnect the inlet hose with hose clamp pliers (J 38185) from the Radiator by releasing clamp tension then remove the condenser. Raise the cooling fan assembly upward before releasing the assembly from the Radiator slots and take it out. First secure and disconnect the surge tank inlet hose while also disconnecting upper transmission oil cooler lines with upper engine oil cooler lines when they are present. Vehicle support at an elevated position allows workers to use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to release tension from the outlet hose clamp before hose removal. The removal process of the Radiator requires detachment of the lower transmission and engine oil cooler lines from the Radiator. The Radiator installation begins by placing the new unit inside the vehicle and by raising it to attach the lower engine oil cooler line when present followed by the lower transmission oil cooler line. Secure the Radiator outlet hose connection after positioning the appropriate tension on its clamp. Lower the vehicle to connect upper transmission and engine oil cooler lines which might be present. Route the surge tank inlet hose properly then tighten its clamp with hose clamp pliers (J 38185). To install the cooling fan and shroud assembly raise it and engage the tabs. Finally install the Radiator inlet hose while using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) for clamp tension. The installation process includes replacing the condenser followed by filling the cooling system before evacuated a/c system recharging and finishing with the leak test using halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). Transmission fluid requires inspection before completing the repair.
