    Q:
How to replace the front side door emblem/nameplate on GMC Savana 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by protecting the front side door with tape before you begin working. Align the area exactly. A heat gun (J 25070) should be positioned 152 mm (6.0 in) from the surface while heating the emblem/nameplate in circular motions for 30 seconds. A plastic flat-blade should be used to separate the door surface from the emblem/nameplate by carefully lifting it off to prevent paint damage. First prepare the emblem/nameplate by removing all adhesive from both surfaces with 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) or an equivalent product and clean the door surface with varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha. Mark the emblem/nameplate position with tape when no markings are present. Place the door surface under heat from the heat gun (J 25070) until it reaches 21°C (70°F) without touching the emblem/nameplate adhesive backing. Press the front edge of the emblem/nameplate against the door panel while you remove its backing material. A hand application of the emblem/nameplate is necessary to achieve proper bonding then bonding must be checked before removing the tape from the door emblem area.

    Q:
How to replace the body side emblem/nameplate on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Warm the emblem/nameplate with a J 25070 Heat Gun by running the gun 152 mm (6 inches) above the surface for 30 seconds in rotating strokes. Use a flat-bladed plastic tool to remove the emblem/nameplate from its panel position then use 3M Product # 07501 or equivalent to clean all adhesive residue from the panel and back of the emblem/nameplate. Clean the targeted panel using soap then water followed by absorption using a lint-free cloth. Wash the panel with intermixed 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water before cleaning it with a General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner from 3M like 08984. Use masking tape or a magnetic strip guide placed 35.0 mm (+/- 2 mm) from both top and bottom edges at 1125.0 mm (+/- 2 mm) horizontally on the panel. Warm the panel using J 25070 Heat Gun when body temperature remains below 66°F. Stick double-coated acrylic foam tape like 3M(R) Super Automotive Attachment Tape while staying away from touching the tape with your hands and keeping it away from dirt. Position the emblem/nameplate by peeling its back adhesive and holding against masking tape or magnetic strip. Press it strongly for 30 seconds to adhere well and then take off masking tape or magnetic strip.

    Q:
How to replace the door emblem and nameplate on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to change a Savana Pro door emblem and nameplate involves putting protective tape on the emblem area while maintaining alignment. Apply a J 25070 heat gun at a 152 mm distance to apply gentle circular heat waves for 30 seconds to the emblem/nameplate. You must use a plastic flat-bladed tool to carefully detach the emblem/nameplate before paint damage occurs. Begin by clearing off all adhesive from both door panel and emblem/base surface using 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) or its equivalent product and complete this stage by cleaning the door panel with VMP naptha. Re-apply tape to the unmarked emblem/nameplate location. Heat the door surface with the heat gun (J 25070) to reach a minimum temperature of 21°C (70°F) without touching the emblem/nameplate adhesive side. After removing the front part of backing from the emblem/nameplate you should use your hands to press it onto the door panel while continuously removing the backing before rolling the piece to achieve proper attachment. Complete the check by confirming the emblem/nameplate has proper bonding then remove adhesive tape from near the door emblem.

    Q:
How to Replace a Door Emblem with Express Access on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to start by taping off the emblem area and then setting it up for alignment before any work begins. A heat gun (J 25070) should be positioned 152 mm (6.0 in) away from the surface while applying circular heat to the emblem/nameplate for thirty seconds. A plastic flat-bladed tool will remove the emblem/nameplate without causing paint damage. Apply 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) or an equivalent product to dissolve all adhesive from the door panel surface and the back of the emblem/nameplate, followed by cleaning the door surface with varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha. Reapply tape when the emblem/nameplate location has no markings. Clean and heat the door surface with a heat gun (J 25070) to reach at least 21°C (70°F) but do not let the heat touch the emblem or nameplate adhesive side. After taking off the rear backing you should place the emblem and let it adhere to the door panel surface before slowing down the backing removal. Push the emblem/nameplate by hand for correct adhesive attachment then verify that the area holds before removing tape from around the door emblem.

    Q:
How to replace the front side door emblem/nameplate on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To begin the process of changing the Savana Pro front side door emblem/nameplate start by applying tape across the area so you can protect and align it correctly. Set a heat gun (J 25070) with a distance of 152 mm (6.0 in) from the surface to warm the emblem/nameplate during a circular movement for 30 seconds. Melt the emblem/nameplate while being careful to minimize paint damage by using a plastic tool with a flat edge. Use 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (equivalent to 3M(TM) P/N 07501) to clean the door panel surface and the back of the emblem/nameplate. Clean the door surface through varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha application. Use tape to mark the emblem/nameplate location when positioning the emblem/nameplate. Use the heat gun J 25070 to warm the door surface to 21°C (70°F) or higher but avoid letting it touch the adhesive strip of the emblem/nameplate. Position the front end of the emblem/nameplate over the door panel after removing the backing then press gently until you finish removing the backing. Follow hand rolling of the emblem/nameplate to ensure tight bonding and verify its connection and then eliminate the tape bordering the door emblem.
