Fuel Rail

The replacement process for sfi engine (2.8L, 3.6L) fuel injectors and fuel rail begins with discharging fuel system pressure using a specific approach dependent on engine type. The next step involves removing both intakes. Begin by detaching the upper Intake Manifold followed by the removal of the lower Intake Manifold. Unsecure the fuel pipe retaining clip to detach its feed pipe connection from the fuel injector rail. Clear away debris with compressed air from the location where the fuel injectors pass into the Intake Manifold. Support the fuel rail before unbolt the fuel rail bolts to prevent injuring spray tips and electrical connector terminals. The process starts with unattaching the fuel rail containing fuel injectors by removing their electrical connectors then moving onto delete the fuel injector retainer clips and extract each fuel injector before disposal of the old fuel injector seals. First install new fuel injector seals before adding the fuel injector together with its retainer clip. The fuel injector electrical connection must have its connector replaced before locking the connection. Secure the fuel rail with its attached fuel injectors while tightening the fuel rail bolts at 10 nm (89 lb in). The operator should connect the fuel feed pipe to the fuel rail before using the retaining clip to install it. Then return the upper Intake Manifold into position.

Remove the foam insulator from the fuel rails, disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector, and cut the wire harness tie straps.
