    Q:
How to Replace Coil Springs on GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process for Coil Springs starts with vehicle support through elevation. First separate the wheel assembly from the tire and remove the stabilizer shaft link. Set a jackstand beneath the lower Control Arm to lift it slightly against the coil spring's tension. Start by removing the lower shock bolt with the accompanying nut then loosen the lower Control Arm to support frame nut and bolt afterward remove the lower Control Arm to knuckle nut and bolt. The coil spring needs unloading by lowering the Control Arm. After unloading the Control Arm remove both the coil spring and insulators. A thorough examination of coil spring upper and lower insulators must take place. The coil spring upper and lower insulators require replacement if damaged but you can use the original components for all other cases. Raise the jackstand while placing the spring assembly with rubber insulators into the vehicle to compress the spring. Ensure to follow fastener caution. Slip the lower Control Arm onto the knuckle while installing the nut and bolt then tighten the fasteners to 160 nm (118 lb ft). Secure the lower Control Arm nut and bolt at 110 nm (81 lb ft) torque before hooking up the shock to the same hardware for a second tightening at 110 nm (81 lb ft). The maintenance process starts by removing the jackstand followed by installation of the stabilizer shaft link and after that you should put on the rear tire and wheel assembly before lowering the vehicle.
