How to properly dispose of a Shock Absorber on Buick LaCrosse? Posted by Customer
    A:
To eliminate suspension strut, ensure that you wear appropriate protection around your eyes to guard against injury in case of metal chip come about through drilling. Lay six strips of 3M foam tape on each end of the strut bar. Install each end of the strut bar on the lower control arm pads using an air gun. The strut bar must stay in alignment with the lower control arm pads. Clamp the strut bar horizontally in a vise with the rod fully extended. While the strut bar is in the vise, remove the tire from the wheel, making sure to keep the bead evenly spaced. Install the bead sealer and lower the tire back on to the wheel, but do not completely inflate the tire.-outs. Drilling a hole of 5 mm (3/16 in) at the center of the end cap ; be prepared for gas or gas / oil mixture to be exhausted as soon as the drilling of the struts, use shop towels to hold any escaping oils. After drilling, take the strut out of the vise and position it vertically so that the hole is facing downwards in a drain pan. Finally slide the rod in and out of the tube to ensure all the oil drains out of the strut.

    A:
In order to service and repair the suspension strut, start by removing the strut from the vehicle. Next, re-install the coil spring and upper strut mount back into the strut spring compressor (J 45400) and compress the coil spring once more. Mount the strut onto the coil spring and upper strut mounting, followed by the strut retaining nut using the strut rod nut socket (J 42991) and a 45 torx(R) socket by tightening the strut mount nut with 75 n.m (55 lb ft). Lastly, take the strut out of the strut spring compressor" (J 45400) and reinstall it back into the vehicle.
