The first step involves detaching the atmospheric vent hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator then removing its clamp bolt. Twist the regulator while pulling outward to separate from the rail after spreading the clamp somewhat to remove the Fuel Pressure Regulator. To install the Fuel Pressure Regulator you must place clean engine oil on its o-ring seals followed by proper orientation of the atmospheric vent toward the engine front. To install this component properly you should push the Fuel Pressure Regulator toward the Fuel Rail while you turn it to obtain complete contact that allows you to position the clamp at both the Fuel Pressure Regulator and the Fuel Rail. Next install the Fuel Pressure Regulator clamp bolt while tightening it to 5 n.m (44 lb in). The atmospheric vent hose should be reattached to the Fuel Pressure Regulator port before starting the Fuel Pump with a scan tool while performing leak checks. The air inlet grill can then be put back into position.

    Step one for repairing a Fuel Pressure Regulator requires following the fuel pressure relief procedure to reduce fuel system pressure and establishing precautions against gasoline/gasoline vapors. Open the clamp slightly to createction for removing the Fuel Pressure Regulator by twisting it toward the engine block from the Fuel Rail port. Begin the installation by coating the o-ring seals with clean engine oil found on the Fuel Pressure Regulator before twisting it while pushing the regulator until it is securely tightened against the Fuel Rail with its atmospheric vent aimed toward the front of the engine. Place the clamp around the Fuel Pressure Regulator and Fuel Rail followed by the installation of the fuel regulator clamp bolt which should be tightened to 5 n.m (44 lb in). Before reinstallation of the air inlet grill use a scan tool to turn on the Fuel Pump and check for leaks through the atmospheric vent hose that is attached to the Fuel Pressure Regulator port.
