Reservoir

Begin replacement of the power steering reservoir by taking off the mounting bracket bolts from the mounting bracket assembly before detaching it from the pump. To remove retaining clips from the reservoir assembly insert a screwdriver into the release clip tang before lightly hitting the clip with a hammer. First take out the reservoir from its position in the hydraulic pump housing then replace the O-ring seal by discarding it. The TORX head bolts securing the hydraulic pump housing need to be checked for their tightness before torquing them to 20 - 25 Nm (15 - 18 ft. lbs.). Attach the valve bore plug to the reservoir with 50-60 Nm torque (37-44 ft-lbs) while applying power steering fluid to the new O-ring seal. Position the reservoir mounting hole directly over the corresponding opening on the top of the pump housing assembly to prevent damage before the assembly connects to the hydraulic pump housing. Fully position the retaining clip onto the reservoir assembly before applying gentle hammer taps then fit the pump onto its mounting bracket assembly with mounting bracket bolts fastened to 28 - 38 Nm (21 - 28 ft. lbs.).
