    Q:
How to service and repair the LH Wheel Seal on Chevrolet Tracker? Posted by Customer
    A:
First service and repair operations for the left side axle seal must start by safely elevating the vehicle with supporting stands. Set a drain pan in the right spot beneath the rear axle housing before uninstalling both the axle housing oil level/filler plug and rear axle drain plug from the rear axle housing to drip out all its oil. Start by first removing the wheel assembly before you proceed to detach the Brake Drum and separated the Axle Shaft from the rear axle housing. The rear Axle Shaft inner oil seal removal requires Axle Shaft seal remover (J 26941) and slide hammer (J 23907). Inspect the protocol for damage when extracting the rear Axle Shaft inner oil seal from the rear axle housing. If damage exists, a replacement is needed. Install the new rear Axle Shaft inner oil seal into the rear axle housing through the use of the Axle Shaft inner oil seal installer (J 29039) and driver handle (J 8092). Before sealing, apply gm p/n 1051344 wheel bearing lubricant or equivalent to the seal lip. After sealing the oil drain plug with gm p/n 12346004, install the rear Axle Shaft then reinstall the Brake Drum and tire and wheel assembly. Before installing the rear axle housing drain plug apply gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) along its threaded section and torque the plug to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). The rear axle housing requires 2.2 liters (4.6 pints) of 80w-90 gl5 lubricant gm p/n 12345977 (Canadian P/N 10953482) until reaching the oil level of the rear axle housing level/filler plug hole before installing the plug using 43 nm (32 ft. Lbs.) torque. Lower the vehicle before removing the drain pan that rests at the base of the rear axle housing.
