    Q:
How to service and repair the Fuel Level Sensor on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process requires two essential tools to service and repair the Fuel Level Sensor: fuel pressure gauge (J 34730-1A) together with fuel line quick connect separator tool set (J 37088-A). The first step requires users to detach the negative Battery Cable along with draining pressure from the fuel system. Place the vehicle on a lift and remove both the wheel and tire from the rear side. The service technician should clean all fuel connections together with surrounding areas to avoid contamination followed by draining fuel tanks and removing the Fuel Tank shield. Place a marker on each fuel pipe before you unfasten the quick-connect fittings from the Fuel Level Sensor and put protective caps over all fuel pipes and disconnect the Fuel Level Sensor electrical connector. First support the Fuel Tank before removing the strap and using a 5/16 inch open end wrench to remove the Fuel Level Sensor attaching bolts which need discarding. Extract the left Fuel Level Sensor from the tank with its gasket by first removing the float arm retaining clip and float arm before discarding both older components. The installation process requires cleaning both gasket contact surfaces of the Fuel Level Sensor before proceeding to place the new gasket. To install the strainer system start by folding one end of each strainer device before inserting the float arm through the Fuel Tank opening while extending the strainers behind it. Attain proper visibility of the long strainer while ensuring the Fuel Level Sensor gasket tab aligns with the Fuel Level Sensor cover mark before performing a hand tightening sequence on the new "break-away head" Fuel Level Sensor attaching bolts to finger-tight torque. First sequence the bolt tightening to cause the heads to shear off and then connect the Fuel Level Sensor fuel feed pipe together with electrical connector before installing the Fuel Tank strap with its bolts torqued to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) as per specifications. Secure the Fuel Tank shield with its mount bolt followed by the nut while setting both torque values at 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and 12 n.m (106 lb ft). Reinstall the rear tire together with its wheel and lower the vehicle before refilling the fuel system. After replacing the fuel filler cap reinstall the negative Battery Cable and follow a leak-check process by cabling the ignition switch on then off. Conclude the task by setting up transmitter operations along with starting the idle learn process.
