    Q:
How to replace the Knock Sensor (KS) for Bank 2 on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the Knock Sensor (KS) for bank 2, disconnect the Knock Sensor connector, and take off the power steering pump pulley. Then, by removing the Knock Sensor pigtail from the retaining clips, it is done by attaching to it a scrap of wire measuring about 36 inches long that will be used as a pull wire in the future. Tag the left hand Engine Mount and remove it, then remove the fastening bolts for the Engine Mount bracket to the block and remove the bracket to the block. Extractor bolt from the center of the Knock Sensor pulling pigtail through the wiring conduit with the wire while observe the routing for proper installation. Then unhook the Knock Sensor from the pull wire and let the pull wire remain in place. For installation, the mating surfaces of the Knock Sensor and the engine block should be properly cleaned, to make sure all the contact surface is right on the engine block. Do not use washers while installing the Knock Sensor, and tighten its nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Securely chuck down the Knock Sensor pigtail to the pull wire and guide the pigtail back through the correct route to the retaining clip on the power steering pump, then send the pull wire. Make sure the pigtail will not touch the Exhaust Manifold or any moving parts while routing. Plug the wiring harness into the Knock Sensor, secure the pigtail to the retaining clips, bolt the Engine Mount bracket to the engine block and tighten bolts to 60 n.m (44 lb ft). Lastly, fit the left hand Engine Mount and the power steering pump pulley.
