After raising and supporting the vehicle complete the front wheelhouse liner replacement procedures for right side (Chevrolet) and right side (GMC) and left side (Chevrolet) to remove Exhaust Heat Shield nuts and both wheelhouse panels. The next step requires removing the Exhaust Heat Shield (1, 3) from its dash panel studs while extracting it through its corresponding wheelwell. The installation includes inserting heat shields (1, 3) into the wheelwell before securing the Exhaust Heat Shield (1, 3) to the dash panel studs. Fasten the Exhaust Heat Shield nuts to a torque of 9 nm while performing installation. Finally, lower the vehicle.

The first step for replacing the Exhaust Heat Shield on the dash panel involves proper vehicle lifting and support system. Starting with the front wheelhouse liner replacement procedures for both right and left sides, remove the Exhaust Heat Shield nuts while taking the wheelhouse panels off before continuing with the replacement of the Exhaust Heat Shield near the dash panel. Undertake Exhaust Heat Shield (1,3) removal from dash panel studs before pulling it through the associated wheelwell. Property installation requires users to reinsert the heat shields (1, 3) through the wheelwell before attaching the Exhaust Heat Shield (1, 3) to dash panel studs. Fasten the Exhaust Heat Shield nuts with a torque of 9 nm (80 lb in). Finally, lower the vehicle.

The Exhaust Manifold heat shield replacement on the right side of 4.8l, 5.3l, 6.0l, 6.2l engines requires starting with right wheelhouse liner removal. You must first remove both bolts securing the Exhaust Manifold heat shield then detach the shield from the Exhaust Manifold. Vehicle components should be handled with care while working on fasteners to avoid damaging the vehicle. The new Exhaust Manifold heat shield should be positioned onto the Exhaust Manifold before you torque its heat shield bolts to 9 nm (80 lb in). The right wheelhouse liner must be replaced after completing the installation.

Position the new heat shield onto the exhaust manifold and secure it with the heat shield bolts, tightening them to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

Attach the exhaust heat shield to the dash panel studs, ensuring to follow the fastener notice.

Remove the exhaust heat shield from the dash panel studs and take it out through the respective wheelwell.

Position the exhaust manifold heat shield onto the exhaust manifold and secure it with the heat shield bolts.

Reinstall the right wheelhouse liner.

Finally, reinstall the spark plug wires.

Next, take out the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and remove the heat shield from the exhaust manifold.

First, remove the spark plug wires and reposition them out of the way if necessary.
