    Q:
How to replace the Exhaust Heat Shield (L52) on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the Exhaust Manifold heat shield (L52) involves removing the air cleaner outlet duct followed by the air cleaner assembly. When m30 is present disconnect the transmission filler tube bracket nut attached to the a.i.r. Adapter before placing it aside. The Exhaust Manifold maintenance proceeds with disconnecting the heated Oxygen Sensor from the Exhaust Manifold followed by removing the 4 heat shield securing nuts from the Exhaust Manifold before extracting the heat shield. The new heat shield must be placed onto the Exhaust Manifold before installing anti-seize compound gm p/n 12371386 (Canadian P/N 993128) onto all heat shield nuts. Fasten the heat shield nuts by torquing them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Install the ho2s onto the Exhaust Manifold before installing the transmission filler tube to the a.i.r. Adapter (if necessary) and fitting the bracket nut tightly to 12.5 nm (111 inch lbs.). The installation of the air cleaner assembly should be completed by reinstalling the air cleaner outlet duct.
