First check your engine temperature before replacement to stop damage from occurring on the Cylinder Head threads. You should clean the Spark Plug recess area to stop dirt from entering the Cylinder Head as this contamination would affect the plug threads and their correct installation. The engine suffers serious damage when using spark plugs that deviate from specifications. Start the process by switching off engine power then unfasten the 4 bolts before taking out the engine cover. Remove the engine spark plugs by disconnecting their wires first. A round wire feeler gauge must be used to check the gaps of all new and reconditioned spark plugs before installation since their pre-set gaps may have changed. After gapping the spark plugs to proper specifications you should check for smooth thread engagement with the Cylinder Head with the potential use of a thread chaser when needed. To prevent overheating or thread damage it is necessary to follow torque specifications directly with spark plugs being tightened to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Remount all Spark Plug Wires after which you should install the engine cover by torquing its 4 bolts to 3 n.m (31 lb in).

To avoid dirt entering the cylinder head, which can contaminate the threads and hinder proper seating of the new spark plugs.

Only the specified spark plugs for the vehicle, as using plugs that are hotter or colder can severely damage the engine.

Ensure the engine is cool to prevent seizing and damage to the cylinder head threads.
