    Q:
How to service and repair the starter motor on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair operations of the Starter motor begin with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and Catalytic Converter removal. After removing the positive Battery Cable nut the technician should take off the positive cable terminal and the engine harness leads from the solenoid. First detach the s terminal nut and remove the purple wire lead together with its washer from the solenoid. Before removing the Starter motor first provide support to it while unbolting all Starter motor fasteners. The installation procedure involves positioning the Starter motor onto its block location whereas Starter motor bolts need installation with 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque settings. Install the purple lead wire with its correct orientation at the 10:00 position during the installation step. After installing the s terminal washer along with the purple lead wire to the s terminal you should tighten the s terminal nut to 4 n.m (35 lb in) until both gray and rust harness leads reach their desired 6:00 and 7:00 positions. Connect gray and rust harness wires to the solenoid while using the positive Battery Cable terminal to attach at the solenoid position before tightening the positive cable nut to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Reinstall the Catalytic Converter after you establish electrical connection through the negative Battery Cable.
