    Q:
How to replace the steering knuckle in the rear suspension on Buick Enclave? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for replacing the Steering Knuckle in rear suspension requires the vehicle to be lifted and supported. For awd vehicles remove the rear Wheel Bearing and hub (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement) while fwd vehicles need (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement). Start by detaching the park Brake Backing Plate assembly and the rear wheel drive shaft according to (Rear Wheel Drive Shaft and Rear Axle Shaft Seal Replacement). Place a jack stand under the lower Control Arm and take out the knuckle adjuster link bolt and knuckle attaching nut and both bolts securing the knuckle to the lower Control Arm and upper Control Arm. The installation of the rear suspension link occurs on the lower Control Arm. The knuckle needs to be removed from both upper and lower control arms next. To install the knuckle park the component in the upper and lower control arms then add the bolt connecting the knuckle to the adjuster link then lightly tighten the nut before securing it to 75 n.m (55 lb ft) with an additional 60 degrees of torque. Position the bolt from the upper Control Arm into the knuckle after you fingertighten the nut before torquing it to 100 n.m (74 lb ft) and additional 60 degrees. After completing the bolt from the lower Control Arm to the knuckle, remove the jack stand positioned under the lower Control Arm. You should install the rear wheel drive shaft followed by the park Brake Backing Plate assembly and finally the rear Wheel Bearing and hub assembly (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement) or (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement). The support should be withdrawn while the vehicle should descend.

How to replace the steering knuckle in the rear suspension on GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
    A:
Secondly, jack up and support the other end of the vehicle. Unscrew the rear Wheel Bearing and hub, the rear disc Brake Backing Plate assembly and the rear wheel drive shaft. Place a jack stand under the lower Control Arm, remove nut and bolt uniting the knuckle to the adjuster link. Next, be sure to remove the lower knuckle to lower Control Arm nut and bolt off, and the bolt and nut to the upper Control Arm to the knuckle off. The rear suspension link can be left on the lower Control Arm while doing this. After removing the knuckles of the upper and lower Control Arm, position with the new knuckle at its position and ensure all fasteners are loosely attached for alignment. Mount the bolt from the knuckle to the adjuster link and finger tighten the nut and then finish tightening to 75 n.m (55 lb ft) + 60 degrees. Mount the bolt to the upper Control Arm and the knuckle, finger tighten the nut, and then tighten to 100 n.m (74 lb ft) plus 60 degrees. Do the same with bolt from the lower Control Arm to the knuckle, finger tighten then tighten to 100 n.m (74 lb ft) + 60 degrees as well. After removing the jack stand, reinstall the rear wheel drive shaft, rear disc Brake Backing Plate assembly as well as rear Wheel Bearing and hub. Finally, take out the support and lower the vehicle.
