    Q:
How to replace the steering wheel on Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disabled sir system operations should occur first before turning off ignition power. Align the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel hub with the slash cut on the Steering Shaft then mark it with a scribe. Using an appropriate tool loosen the Steering Wheel nut until it reaches the end of the Steering Shaft. Place the j1859-a Steering Wheel puller (J42578 Steering Wheel Puller Legs) around the Steering Wheel to unseat it from the Steering Shaft. Remove the puller from the assembly then remove the Steering Shaft nut to detach the Steering Wheel from the Steering Shaft. Remove the sir connector from its position on the Steering Wheel. To put the sir connector in position pass it through the Steering Wheel then match the scribe mark with the slash mark found on the Steering Shaft before setting the Steering Wheel. First tighten the Steering Shaft nut to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.) before reinstalling the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and reactivating the sir system. The inspection process needs to verify the proper operation of the Horn and Steering Wheel in addition to Steering Wheel controls.
