Disabling the sir system will the first step in servicing and repairing the Steering Wheel. Take out the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and remove the Steering Wheel electrical connector. Supposing it is fitted, remove the weight block from the Steering Wheel base and after that, take off the Steering Wheel retaining nut. Put a note of alignment mark of Steering Shaft and Steering Wheel for proper installation. Remove the Steering Wheel using the Steering Wheel puller legs (J42578) and the Steering Wheel puller (J1859-A). When removing, run the Steering Wheel wiring through the Steering Wheel and align the marks before installing the Steering Wheel. Before taking out the Steering Wheel, firstly deactivate the sir system because sir is associated with the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module. Remove the Steering Wheel electrical connector and, if fitted, the weight block from the Steering Wheel base. Then take away the Steering Wheel retaining nut and take a mark of the alignment way on the Steering Shaft and also on the Steering Wheel. Attach the Steering Wheel puller legs (J42578) and the Steering Wheel puller (J1859-A) on the Steering Wheel, and utilize these tools to eliminate the Steering Wheel and the Steering Column away from one another. After taking away the tools, pass the wires through the new Steering Wheel with the sign on the Steering Wheel being equal to that on the shaft and then put it in. Mount the Steering Wheel retaining nut and tighten it to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs), add weight block if applicable. Reattach the Steering Wheel electrical connector, put on the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module, and then turn on the sir system.

To service and repair the Steering Wheel, first disconnect the negative Battery Cable and take the sir system out of action. Take off the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and, if applicable, the weight block from the Steering Wheel base. Take your alignment marks off the Steering Shaft and Steering Wheel after removing the nut. Take out the steeron wheel puller legs (J42578), and the case for the Steering Wheel puller (J1859-A), and use them to pull the Steering Wheel off so that you can take these out. For installation, run the routing through the Steering Wheel, nest the marks, and put the Steering Wheel into place. Tighten the nut to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) and install the weight block and the inflatable restraint a Steering Wheel module. Finally, enable the sir system.

Disconnect the steering wheel electrical connector and, if equipped, remove the weight block from the steering wheel base.
