    Q:
How to Access and Replace the Hazard Warning Switch on a Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the replacement of the Hazard Warning Switch by putting on the parking brake then carefully take off the bezel from the Ignition Lock Cylinder with a small flat-bladed tool. The transaxle shift control indicator should be set to 1 before positioning the Steering Wheel for access regarding vehicles with column shift systems. Start by taking away the right and left access covers from the instrument panel (I/P) fuse block of the impala but take off the left access cover from the monte carlo. Seamlessly remove the steering column filler while you start opening the instrument panel compartment door on the monte carlo. Reach the Hazard Warning Switch by first unscrewing the screws of the i/p cluster trim plate then pulling the trim plate from the left while being cautious to avoid damage. The electrical connector must be detached from the switch before removing it through the i/p cluster trim plate. First position the new Hazard Warning Switch on the i/p cluster trim plate before you connect its electrical connector. Pull the trim plate toward you through the i/p trim pad while ensuring all retainers reach full seating which allows you to install the i/p cluster trim plate screws at 2 n.m (18 lb in). The left access cover of the i/p fuse block requires installation on the monte carlo while both right and left access covers need to be installed on the impala. Put back the steering column filler while closing the i/p compartment door for the monte carlo and return the Steering Wheel to its original spot. To finish the installation the technician should move vehicles with column shifts into park position while installing their ignition lock bezel before releasing the parking brake.

    Q:
How to replace the hazard warning switch on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
Starting any Hazard Warning Switch replacement you must engage the parking brake along with setting the column shift transaxle to position 1. The Steering Wheel accessible area needs adjustment before removing the ignition switch bezel followed by both right and left panel access covers from the instrument panel fuse block. The next step requires removal of the steering column filler which also includes the ip cluster trim plate screws. The left corner of the ip cluster trim plate requires gentle rearward pull to detach it and expose the Hazard Warning Switch. Start the procedure by disconnecting Hazard Warning Switch electrical connectors from the ip cluster trim plate and then pull the switch away from this area. Put the Hazard Warning Switch into the ip cluster trim plate before connecting the electrical wire. The ip cluster trim plate requires pressing into the ip trim pad which securely seats all retainers before screw installation with a torque of 2 n.m (18 lb in). Reinstall both access covers that protect the ip fuse block and also replace the steering column filler in addition to the bezel at the ignition switch cylinder. Reposition the Steering Wheel to its proper position while setting the transaxle shift control indicator to park if needed then releasing the parking brake.
