    Q:
How to replace the front door opening Weather Strip on Buick Lucerne? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process of the front door opening Weather Strip requires removing the carpet retainer as the initial step. Start at the top rear area of the door opening and gently unfasten the Weather Strip from the door opening flange before proceeding to remove it fully from the door frame. Installation begins with placing the paint dot at the upper center pillar corner where single and double marks show right-hand start points for weather strips. The Weather Strip rubber side must face outward of the vehicle. Feed the Weather Strip onto the door opening flange beginning from the back edge while making sure the carrier fully settles into all corners. The installation of the Weather Strip continues from the center pillar to the forward direction along the roof rail and window-pillar flange while making sure the carrier stays fully seated. A rubber mallet or your palm should be used to make sure the Weather Strip fully rests on the whole door opening flange. From here you need to use a plastic trim stick or equivalent instrument to position the close-out lip over the interior trim which borders the door opening. Alternatively you can use the ripcord on new Weather Strip underneath the close-out lip to readjust its position. Finally, install the carpet retainer.
