2000 Buick LeSabre Fuel Pressure Regulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the fuel pressure regulator on 2000 Buick LeSabre?
A: Service of the fuel pressure regulator begins by lowering the fuel system pressure. Before removing the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator you should clean the dirt from its retaining ring. Use a shop towel to prevent fuel leakage as you lift and twist the fuel pressure regulator from its housing by removing the snap ring. Starting with the small regulator O-ring, remove each of these components from the regulator housing along with its regulator filter screen and large regulator O-ring and back up regulator O-ring. A protective wrapping should cover the fuel pressure regulator housing to stop contamination during this procedure. Use compressed air on the fuel pressure regulator only during installation because it can create damage to the components. Gasoline should be used to clean the fuel pressure regulator filter screen but the fuel pressure regulator should not go into solvent bath for cleaning. New O-rings should be installed on the fuel pressure regulator regardless of new part installation and require light engine oil application as lubrication. Organize the installation process by adding the back up regulator O-ring as a baseline followed by the large regulator O-ring and after that install the regulator filter screen followed by the small regulator O-ring. The next step includes inserting the fuel pressure regulator into the fuel pressure regulator housing followed by using the snap ring to hold it in place and reattaching the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator until you complete by fixing the fuel injector sight shield.
