Begin the Timing Chain repair process by placing the Timing Chain between both sprockets then position the timing marks correctly. Begin by installing the Timing Chain together with crankshaft sprocket and camshaft sprocket. Apply 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.) torque to the camshaft sprocket bolt during installation. The torque angle meter (J 36660-A) enables additional 90-degree tightening of the camshaft sprocket bolt. Perform dial indicator measurements (J 8001) at four points on the balance shaft driven gear to determine the gear lash. The gear lash requirements range from 0.050 mm to 0.127 mm (0.002 - 0.005 inch). Add the Timing Chain dampener into its final position.
