2000 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Level Sensor on 2000 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Service of the Fuel Level Sensor requires the first step to be fuel system pressure relief. The first step for servicing a fuel sender assembly requires drainage of the tank. Position your hand across the fuel strainer to examine the correct installation before you grasp the fuel strainer with your other hand while holding the reservoir with one hand. Set the fuel sender assembly on the bench upside down before taking out the fuel strainer. The assessment of the fuel strainer requires immediate cleaning of the Fuel Tank followed by disposal of the Fuel Level Sensor once inspection is complete. First disconnect the electrical connectors from both the Fuel Pump and cover assembly and then remove those from the Fuel Level Sensor assembly. The fuel sender and Fuel Level Sensor should always receive a fresh fuel strainer before installation occurs. Attach the new fuel strainer to the fuel sender while making sure it installs fully before installing the new Fuel Level Sensor assembly and restoring the electrical connectors to the Fuel Pump and cover assembly. Position the fuel sender assembly then fuel the tank and fasten the Fuel Tank filler pipe cap. Holding the negative battery cable enables checking for leaks following a 2-second ignition turn-on then a 10-second ignition turn-off followed by another 2-second ignition turn-on to perform leak detection. The last step involves fuel injector sight shield installation.
