How to service and repair the steering wheel on 2000 Buick Park Avenue?

A service or repair of the Steering Wheel begins with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Service the Steering Wheel by disabling the sir system first and then removing the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module. Steering Wheel base weight blocks should be removed if present before the Steering Wheel nut can be taken off. Write down the alignment markings located on both the Steering Wheel and the Steering Shaft. Install the Steering Wheel puller legs (J42578) and the Steering Wheel puller (J1859-A) to detach the Steering Wheel from its place. Follow this step by running wires through the Steering Wheel before you perform Steering Wheel mark alignment and replace the wheel into position. The first step is to install the Steering Wheel nut and apply 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) of torque to it. Next reinstall the weight block and the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module. Finally, enable the sir system.
