2000 Buick Park Avenue Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the tie rod end on 2000 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Service and repairs of a Tie Rod End must begin with using a suitable lift to raise the vehicle in the air. Start by removing the tire and wheel followed by removing the lock nut from the outdoor Tie Rod End. Thread the jam nut on the inner tie rod assembly with care. Start by using the universal steering linkage puller tool (J24319-01) on the Steering Knuckle to separate the outer tie rod assembly before disconnecting both rod assemblies from each other. During installation the outer tie rod assembly needs to link up with the inner tie rod yet the jam nut remains loose. Position the outer tie rod assembly onto the Steering Knuckle then tighten the tie rod nut to a torque of 75 nm (55 ft. Lbs.). After connecting the lock nut to the tie rod stud make sure the Rack and Pinion Boot stays untwisted and flat throughout the toe adjustment procedure. After reinstalling the tire and wheel lower the vehicle then adjust toe alignment before securing the jam nut against the outer tie rod at 75 nm (55 ft. Lbs.).
