  • Q: How to replace the power steering pump on 2000 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The first step to replace the Power Steering Pump involves eliminating the pump Drive Belt. The procedure starts with disconnecting both the power steering gear pressure hose and the return hose from the pump location. After removing three mounting bolts from the Power Steering Pump you should lift and support the vehicle to extract the pump underneath the engine. Transfer the pulley as needed. Fasten the pulley onto the pump before you install the three mounting bolts which must reach the correct torque value per the fastener notice. Attach the power steering gear inlet hose to the pump and torque it to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Install the return hose after that. The pump mounting bolts must be installed after you apply 27 nm (20 ft.
