Starting with vehicle support and tire removal, technicians must begin outer Tie Rod End replacement. First loosen the inner tie rod's jam nut and then remove the lock nut from the outer tie rod. The universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) enables removal of the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle prior to detaching the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod . First secure the outer tie rod to the inner tie rod without jam nut tightening before attaching the outer tie rod to the Steering Knuckle. Secure the outer tie rod lock nut with proper torque of 75 nm (55 ft. Lbs.) while carefully avoiding boot deformities during toe adjustment. After wheel installation you must lower the vehicle and complete the toe adjustment process.
