2000 Buick Regal Ball Joint Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the ball joint on 2000 Buick Regal?
A: Install the lower Control Arm in a vice before starting the Ball Joint service and repair work. Drill or grind away the ball stud rivet heads to install a hammer and drift punch to extract both rivets and the ball stud from the lower Control Arm. Fit the ball stud back into the Control Arm slot before inserting new bolts that face downward to the side of the ball stud. After cleaning both parts ensure that 2 nm torque builds up before installing the fastener. If this preload condition does not reach replace the fastener. After placing the ball stud into the lower Control Arm position you should tighten new ball stud nuts to 68 nm (50 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the entire Control Arm assembly last.
