2000 Buick Regal Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel rail on 2000 Buick Regal?
A: The fuel line quick connect separator (J 37088-A) enables you to remove fuel pressure from the system for servicing the Fuel Rail. The service starts with cleaning all components of the Fuel Rail assembly before removing both fuel feed and return pipe quick connect retainers followed by disconnecting the fuel feed and return pipes. Detach vacuum lines from the Throttle Body along with structure wires from the Ignition Coil and its hardware located above the supercharger. Move on to detach the generator together with the rear generator mounting bracket and Fuel Injector electrical connectors from the fuel injectors along with the vacuum line from the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Disconnect the electrical harness clips which maintain harness connection to the Fuel Rail front side as well as supercharger boost control solenoid and bypass valve actuator. Pop out the Fuel Rail hold-down bolts from the Fuel Rail while using caps to seal fittings and plugging holes to prevent contaminants. Use even pressure to remove the Fuel Rail at both the sides. As an installation procedure start by putting fresh o-rings on each component then apply cleaned motor oil lightly to the Fuel Injector o-rings before carefully placing the Fuel Rail assembly against the supercharger with hand-led seating of the fuel injectors. Place the Fuel Rail hold-down bolts first then tighten them to 10 n.m (7 lb ft) before advancing to tighten the Fuel Rail hold-down stud to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). The supercharger bypass valve actuator along with the supercharger boost control solenoid and generator and rear generator mounting bracket and the Fuel Injector electrical harness clips have to be reinstalled. Connect the Fuel Injector electrical connectors to their respective locations while connecting the Ignition Coil wires to each coil through its retainer clip. The vacuum line should connect to the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Reinstall all vacuum lines which attach to the Throttle Body then secure the fuel feed and return pipes on the Fuel Rail before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. To complete the task turn on the ignition for 2 seconds then turn it off for 10 seconds before another ignition turn-on while checking for fuel leaks before you install the fuel injection sight shield with a nut torque of 2 n.m (18 lb in).
