2000 Cadillac Escalade Brake Calipers Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Remove and Reinstall a Brake Calipers Assembly on 2000 Cadillac Escalade?
A: You should start by draining two-thirds of the brake fluid from the master cylinder to service and repair bendix brakes. Lift the vehicle and put safety stands under it to support it. Identify how the wheel attaches to the hub and take the tire and the wheel off from the vehicle. Set a c-clamp on the cylinder and tighten it until the Piston is barely inside the bore and then take off the c-clamp. After that, remove the brake hose and unscrew bolt (2), then drive the support key out using a hammer and brass punch after taking out the support spring. Remove the assembly and check the inside or brake lines for any leaks with a clean rag; if anything is spotted, follow brake caliper overhaul. Scrub any corrosion from the machined areas of the anchor plate and the caliper with a wire brush. Before installing the caliper and anchor, apply lubricant to their sliding surfaces, for example shell aeroshell #5. Make sure that the caliper assembly is installed correctly so that the brake hose is not twisted or tightened too much. Don't apply never seize type products on the v-ways and guide ways of the anchor plate, since this can cause higher caliper slide forces and added Brake Pad wear. Drive in the support key by placing the spring beneath it and putting the brass punch and hammer on top; after that, insert the caliper lock mounting bolt (2), so the boss matches the cutout on the support key and fasten the bolts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). The brake hose should be installed and the bolt at the end should be tightened to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Flush the brake system, add the tire and wheel and only then lower the vehicle.
