How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Reservoir on 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier?

You should start the Power Steering Reservoir service and repair process by placing a fixed hydraulic pump in a flat position with its shaft oriented up. Push the retaining clip tab outside while pulling the reservoir clip away from the hydraulic pump assembly through the use of a screwdriver. Remove the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing then dispose of the O-ring seal which either comes from the reservoir neck or from the hydraulic pump housing. Before installation of the new O-ring seal apply power steering fluid for lubrication after placing the O-ring on the reservoir neck. Install the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly by ensuring that the reservoir neck fully fits inside the assembly. Use the sides of the hydraulic pump housing to position the reservoir feet and insert the new clips supplied with the pump until the tabs extend fully to the housing.
