How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor (7X) on 2000 Chevrolet Impala?

Start by turning off ignition and crank Steering Wheel fully left before continuing with crankshaft position (CKP) sensor (7X) replacement. Lift the vehicle and eliminate the right tire and wheel. Attack the bolt retaining the sensor after removing the electrical connector before removing the sensor from its engine location. Check the sensor for possible wear and crack or leak conditions but only inspect if you won't be replacing the sensor. First inspect the o-ring for damage then apply engine oil for lubrication before new installation. Construct a 11 n.m (97 lb in) torque when reinstalling the sensor attaching bolt to the block. Reinstall the right tire with wheel and reconnect the sensor electrical connector then lower the vehicle into position.
