How to service the knock sensor on 2000 Chevrolet Impala?

First service the knock sensor by turning off the ignition system then perform safe vehicle lifting. Unplug the knock sensor wiring harness connector remote the knock sensor by removing the sensor from the engine block. Apply thread sealant onto the Knock Sensor (KS) during installation because the sensor receives a factory coating that needs this bare surface to detect detonation effectively. Secure the knock sensor into its designated spot within the engine block by applying a torque of 19 N.m (14 lb ft). Secure the knock sensor wiring harness connector to its mount on the knock sensor before lowering the vehicle.
