2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Fuel Filler Hose Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the fuel filler hose on 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: The first step in servicing the Fuel Filler Hose requires you to decrease fuel system pressure. Raise the vehicle while you should first loosen the Fuel Filler Hose clamp at both the Fuel Tank and the fuel filler pipe to subsequently remove the Fuel Filler Hose. Deactivate the vapor recirculation line that is located at the fuel filler pipe before you take out the fuel filler pipe screw which is mounted on the underbody. Lower the vehicle to access the fuel filler pipe access panel where you should remove the three attaching screws before raising the vehicle to remove the fuel filler pipe. After the replacement you must reinstall the fuel filler pipe before lowering the vehicle. Reinstall the three fuel filler pipe attaching screws into the fuel filler pipe access panel while applying 10 n.m (8 lb ft) torque. Once more raise the vehicle to reinstall the fuel filler pipe attaching screw that should be tightened to 10 n.m (8 lb ft) on the underbody. After connecting the vapor recirculation line to the fuel filler pipe you must reinstall the Fuel Filler Hose followed by clamping both Fuel Tank and fuel filler pipe clamps into place. For proper Fuel Tank port sealing ensure that filler hose reaches its complete position on both Fuel Tank and fuel filler pipe ports as well as the clamp placement between the bead and tank area before tightening Fuel Tank filler hose clamps to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in). You should lower the vehicle while properly fastening the fuel fill cap followed by reconnection of the negative Battery Cable. Finish up by monitoring for fuel leaks through a sequence of turning on the ignition for two seconds then off for ten seconds before another turn-on to check for leaks with reinstallation of the fuel injection sight shield.
