Q: How to replace the lower intake manifold on 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: To replace the lower Intake Manifold, first, consider taking out the upper Intake Manifold, then, proceed to remove the generator braces then generate. At that point, disconnect the mounting bracket of the drive belt tensioner and the reduce heater the bypass inlet pipe, followed by the egr pipe from the low Intake Manifold. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the water outlet housing and from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor's wiring harness connector. Depress the generator bracket bolts and the generator bracket, followed by the extraction of the evaporative emissions (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve. Lower Intake Manifold bolts that are attached to the motor need to be unscrewed and the lower Intake Manifold with its seals and gaskets removed from the motor. While replacing lower Intake Manifold, also take out the water outlet housing bolts, water outlet housing, gasket and Thermostat, and ect sensor. Examine the flatness of the inlet flanges, clean the engine block and the Intake Manifold sealing surfaces with appropriate solvent, clean Intake Manifold bolts and bolt holes of adhesive compound. For installation, if the ect sensor was removed, fit the sensor, and then the Thermostat, gasket, and water outlet housing, securing the water outlet housing bolts to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Mount the lower Intake Manifold gaskets, apply sealer gm p/n 12345336 or similar to the ends of the Intake Manifold seals and mount the lower Intake Manifold seals. When securing the lower manifold bolts, (1-12), apply thread lock compound; gm p/n; 12345382 or equal on the hidden bolts and sequentially tighten to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Replace the generator bracket and bolt it with 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.), then evap canister purge solenoid valve and ect sensor wiring harness connector. Now, install the reduced hose on to the water outlet housing, and then fit the drive belt tensioner mounting bracket, as well as the water heater bypass inlet pipe then EGR Tube to the lower Intake Manifold; tighten the EGR Tube bolt to 29 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). Last but not least, reinstall the generator and the generator braces, and the upper Intake Manifold.
