2000 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) for Bank 1 on 2000 Chevrolet Suburban 1500?
A: To replace the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) for bank 1, be careful with the sensor and ensure that the in-line electrical connector and the louvered end do not have any grease, dirt or contaminants and that you don't use any cleaning solvents. When removing, too much force could damage the threads on the Exhaust Pipe, so it may be necessary to lower the exhaust system to gain easier access. Start by lifting the vehicle and trace out the position of the ho2s to be eliminated. Remove the ho2s electrical connector and carefully remove the sensor. Use the gm p/n 5613695 anti-seize compound on the threads if necessary, as the compound is made up of graphite and glass beads, which make it easy to remove them in the future when installing a new or service sensor. Attach the heated Oxygen Sensor as well as tighten the same to 41 n.m (30 lb ft), followed by reconnection of the ho2s electrical connector, and then lower the vehicle.
