How to Replace a Rear Door Hinge (Upper) on 2000 Chevrolet Tracker?

The first step to replace the rear door upper hinge involves opening the front side door to reach the bolts which secure the rear side door upper hinge. Locate the positions of both rear side door hinges upper and lower on the rear door structure and upper hinge position on door jamb. Move the lower center pillar trim after which you must remove both 2 bolts and the single nut that secures the upper hinge to the door jamb. The rear side door check pin should be removed before supporting the rear side door with a floor jack and a piece of wood. To detach the rear side door you should remove two bolts that attach the upper hinge to the door then two more bolts that hold the lower hinge to the door. Move the rear side door away from the door jamb space for the upper hinge before uninstalling the upper hinge from the vehicle. During installation, position the rear side door upper hinge at the marks you established earlier then attach it to the door jamb through the 2 bolts and nut while leaving them loose. Put the rear side door into position alongside its hinges and correct all markings before installing the rear side door check pin. Secure the 2 bolts connecting the lower hinge to the door without achieving a full tightness. Screw in the 2 bolts of the upper hinge to the door and tighten the rear side Door Hinge bolts to 27 n.m torque (19 lb ft torque) and the rear side door upper hinge nut to 23 n.m torque (17 lb ft torque). Use the lower center pillar trim to replace the removed part while taking out the floor jack items along with the piece of wood. Finish by closing the front side door. Use a level to adjust the rear side Door Lock striker vertically so it sits directly in the center of the rear side Door Lock while maintaining levelness before adjusting the door flushness with the quarter panel as necessary.
