• Q: How to service the Air Bag Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable on 2000 Chevrolet Venture?

  A: The air bag(s) arming and disarming procedure needs to be completed before starting any air bag clock spring assembly / spiral cable servicing work. After performing the disarming procedure start with inflatable restraint module removal before taking off Steering Wheel and then column shrouds. Remove inline connector c205 located at the steering column base which controls radio functions from its position and also remove the wiring harness straps from the steering column wiring harness. Pull the retaining ring before extracting the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module coil from the Steering Shaft. Start installation by setting the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module coil on the Steering Shaft where it should be fastened to the retaining ring. Move the lower coil wiring harness up the steering column and secure it by installing the harness straps before reconnecting the radio Steering Wheel controls through inline connector c205. After replacing the Steering Wheel, technicians should install upper and lower steering column shrouds and finally install the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module. The sir system should be enabled as a final step during the procedure.
