How to Replace the Rear Parking Brake Cable on 2000 GMC C3500?

The process of installing a new rear park brake cable in C3500HD vehicles starts with releasing the park brake followed by vehicle elevation using safety stands. Remove the connector by loosening the equalizer nut. Before disconnecting the cable you must first detach the rear brake assembly and flex the retaining finger system located at the backing plate. The new cable installation requires installation of the cable followed by insertion of the cable end into the backing plate where all retaining fingers must be completely through. Reassemble the rear brake assembly while placing the connector. Then perform any necessary adjustment of the rear cable.
