    Q:
How to Replace the Parking Brake Cable on GMC C3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Reverse the car park brake first and then raise the vehicle to work on the front (C3500HD) park brake cable. The complete installation of a new park brake cable requires first taking off the cotter pin and clevis pin so you can detach the clevis from the cable and grommet from the bracket. After disconnecting the cable from the clip the technician must remove the grommet from the body. First disconnect the retaining fingers from the lever and then take off the cable assembly. The process starts with loading the cable assembly then integrating retaining fingers to the park brake lever. First connect the grommet to both the body and bracket, afterward install the cable within the clip . Install the clevis onto the park brake cable after positioning the retaining fingers tightly then adjust the cable and let the vehicle rest.

    Q:
How to service and repair the left rear parking brake cable on GMC C2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To work on the parking brake cable, first let go of the parking brake and lift up and secure the car. First, loosen the nut at the equalizer to take pressure off the park brake cables and then remove the cable from the equalizer. To take the cable out of the mounting bracket on a standard cab, push the locking tabs and for an extended cab, push the locking tabs in the body mount too. Next, take out the bolt at the bracket of the shock absorber, disconnect the cable from both the lever and the backing plate and then take it off. To install the cable, ensure it passes through the guides and mounts properly, after which you should press it into the backing plate to snap the tabs in place. Connect the cable to the lever, then bolt it at the shock absorber bracket with 25 N.m or 18 lb ft of torque. Place the cable into the mounting bracket for the standard cab so the locking tabs click into the end and for the extended cab, connect the cable to the body mount to where the tabs snap shut. Join the equalizer to the cable end and fasten the nut on the intermediary cable to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in). The last step is to take out the safety stands, drive the car down and set the park brake cable.
