How to Service and Repair the Brake Backing Plate on 2000 GMC Safari?

To service the backing plate, lift the vehicle and remove the tire and wheel assembly. Mark the position of the brake drum, remove the brake drum and brake shoes. Then remove the wheel cylinder and axle shaft and finally the backing plate. Reinstall in reverse order, making sure to do it properly and tighten. Finally, drop the car and bleed the brake system.
