How to Service and Repair the Brake Backing Plate on 2000 GMC Safari?

In order to service and repair the backing plate lift the vehicle and remove the tire and wheel assembly. Marking the relationship between the Brake Drum and the axle, the driver should remove the Brake Drum and the brake shoes. Then, unplug the Wheel Cylinder, whiten Axle Shaft, then remove the bolts and washers to remove the backing plate. For the installation, you'll first install the backing plate intending to follow the fastener notice in service precautions. Replace the bolts and washers and tighten to 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs) and replace Axle Shaft and Wheel Cylinder. Then, install brake shoes and the Brake Drum with regards to alignment with the marks made at the time of disassembly. Then, put in the tire and wheel assembly and lower the vehicle while bleeding the brake system.
